Customers praised this heart rate and pedometer tracker for its simplicity and value, with one noting it's "simple" for monitoring. It accurately tracks steps during walking and provides easy heart rate checks. However, some concerns include tight fit for larger wrists, inconsistent accuracy on gym equipment, and band durability lasting only 9 months.

Looks good, works well, tight fit.

This heart rate and pedometer works as described. I think it looks nice and appears to be rugged enough to withstand normal use. The reason I rated it with only four stars is because it is a bit of a tight fit on my wrist even at the widest setting. I have pretty thick wrists, so this probably won't be a problem for others. I haven't checked to see if the watch comes in different sizes. If so, then it's my fault for not ordering a larger model. Other than the fit, the watch is a good choice for me.

Hi Mort! Thank you for your honest and detailed review of the Medline Heart Rate and Pedometer Watch.

We are glad to hear that you find the watch rugged, stylish, and effective for your tracking needs. We appreciate your feedback regarding the band length; while this model is designed as a 'one size fits most,' we understand that a tight fit can be uncomfortable for those with thicker wrists.

Your feedback is very helpful for other customers, and we are happy to hear that, aside from the fit, the watch is a good choice for you. Thank you for your business!

Being a conservative spender

Being a conservative spender, I purchased this watch in lieu of an Apple watch.
It usually measures my steps accurately when walking, but not so much on an elliptical trainer, treadmill or leg massager with my hands on my legs.
I have Afib and am not positive my pulse and heart rate the same.

Hi Murray! Thank you for your review of the Heart Rate and Pedometer Watch. We appreciate you choosing our watch as a budget-friendly alternative for your fitness tracking.

Regarding your feedback, most pedometers require arm motion to count steps, which is why accuracy may decrease on an elliptical or treadmill if your hands remain stationary. Additionally, while this is a great tool for general fitness, it is not a medical-grade device; those with AFib may find that optical sensors vary from clinical heart rate monitors.

We recommend using the watch as a general guide and consulting your physician for medical-grade monitoring. We appreciate your business!

The manufacturer's instructions suggest the primary use of this watch is not time-keeping, but pulse measuring. It's written as advertised.

Hi Claudia! Thank you for your feedback on the Heart Rate and Pedometer Watch.

We appreciate you highlighting that this device is designed primarily as a health-monitoring tool rather than a traditional timepiece. We are glad to hear that the product is "as advertised" and that the manufacturer's instructions provided clear guidance on its specialized functions.

Thank you for choosing us for your health and fitness needs!

I love the way the watch operates and that is why this is the second one I bought

I love the way the watch operates and that is why this is the second one I bought. I hope this band last longer than the first due to it only lasting about 9 months before it broke after normal wear, making it useless to me. . Ordering it was great especially when I omitted my address. It was brought to my attention and corrected immediately. Arrival time was excellent.

Hi Steven! That's fantastic to hear that you love the way the Heart Rate and Pedometer Watch operates enough to purchase it a second time! We're also glad your ordering and delivery experience was excellent, especially with our team catching and correcting the address omission right away.

We understand your concern about the longevity of the band. It's frustrating when an item breaks after only about nine months of normal wear, making the watch unusable.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this caused. We truly hope this second band exceeds your expectations and lasts much longer!

Thank you for being a repeat customer and for letting us know about the band issue.

Nice Watch. Met my expectations

I’ve only used the watch for a few days, so I’m not sure how durable it is.
I bought mostly to check my heart rate while doing YRG Yoga.
It is very easy to check your heart rate.
It is also comfortable.
If it lasts for a couple of years, I would purchase again.

Hi, Ted! Thank you for your review. We’re glad you find our watch easy to use and comfortable. Our watches are designed for durability. We hope you enjoy it for years to come. Thank you for choosing Medical Supply Pros!

I see it is water “resistant”. Will it work for monitoring my heart rate when I am swimming. Not diving, just surface swimming.

Medical Supply Pros

Thanks for asking, Jeff! No, it will not work for swimming. You should definitely leave it on the pool deck for two main reasons:

It is only splash-resistant: Its "3 ATM" rating sounds impressive, but in watch terms, it only protects against minor splashes (like rain or washing your hands). The pressure from swimming will force water past the seals and ruin the watch.

The heart rate monitor isn't automatic: It doesn't track your pulse continuously. To get a reading, you have to stop moving and press two fingers onto the silver sensors on the front. Water on your skin or the watch face will disrupt this connection, making it impossible to get a reading while wet.

Thanks,
The Medical Supply Pros Team.

How do you know what inches to put in after you put in your weight? Can you reset your steps daily? I just got mine today and am trying to set it up. It gives steps, distance and calories burned?

Medical Supply Pros

Hi Linda! Thank you for asking! Here is the quick setup guide:

Setting "Inches" (Stride Length)

The watch asks for your stride length (distance of one step), not your total height.

How to calculate: Walk 10 steps, measure the total distance in inches, and divide by 10.

Average estimate: Use 30 inches for men or 26 inches for women if you prefer a quick start.

Why it matters: It uses this number to accurately calculate distance and calories based on your steps.

Resetting Steps

Automatic: The watch resets to zero automatically at midnight.

Manual: To reset mid-day, hold down the RESET (top right) button while in Step mode until the display clears.

Key Usage Tips

Heart Rate: This model requires you to press your fingers onto the silver sensors on the watch face; it does not track continuously.

Power Saving: If the screen goes blank, press any button to wake it up.

Thanks,
The Medical Supply Pros Team.

Is the heart rate continually displayed on the screen or do you have to click something to see the heart rate?

Medical Supply Pros

Hi Sherrie! You must click a button to see your heart rate; it is not continuously displayed on the main screen.

How to Check

Access Mode: Press the MODE button to navigate to the heart rate screen.

Take Reading: Press and hold your fingers on the metal sensors on the watch face to get a live reading.

Pedometer: Steps are counted automatically and displayed on the main screen without clicking.

Thanks,
The Medical Supply Pros Team.

Can you just look at the watch and see your heart rate? (don't have to push button, wait, etc.)

Medical Supply Pros

Thanks for asking! For the Heart Rate and Pedometer Watch (MDSP3044), your heart rate is not displayed continuously on the screen.

Manual Activation Required: To get a reading, you must touch and hold the sensors on the watch face. It is not an "always-on" heart rate monitor like some high-end fitness trackers.

The Process: You typically have to wait a few seconds while the watch calculates your pulse.

Pedometer: The step-counting feature (pedometer) is active while you move, but heart rate is a "spot-check" function rather than a constant live feed.

This design is intended to preserve battery life, as the watch uses a standard coin-cell battery rather than being rechargeable.

Thanks,
The Medical Supply Pros Team.

does watch require a phone or app connection

Medical Supply Pros

Thanks for asking. No, the Heart Rate and Pedometer Watch does not require a phone or app connection.

It is a standalone device designed for simplicity. All health data, such as your heart rate and step count, is displayed directly on the watch screen and stored in the watch's internal memory (it stores the last 50 days of steps).

Thanks,
The Medical Supply Pros Team.

Does this watch have bluetooth?

Medical Supply Pros

Thank you for asking. No, the Medline Heart Rate and Pedometer Watch (MDSP3044) does not have Bluetooth.

It is a standalone device designed for simplicity. Because it lacks Bluetooth connectivity:

No App Required: You do not need a smartphone or a special app to use it.

On-Device Storage: It automatically stores your last 50 days of step data directly on the watch screen.

Manual Tracking: Since it cannot sync to a phone, you must view your heart rate and activity data directly on the watch face.

Thanks,
The Medical Supply Pros Team.

How does it charge?

Medical Supply Pros

Thanks for asking! The Medline Heart Rate and Pedometer Watch (MDSP3044) is not rechargeable. It does not use a charging cable or dock.

Battery Type: It is powered by a replaceable CR2430 button cell battery.

Maintenance: When the battery runs low, you must unscrew the back of the watch to replace it.

Startup Tip: If a new watch won't turn on, press and hold all four side buttons for 5 seconds to exit "Power Save" mode.

Thanks,
The Medical Supply Pros Team.

Does this heart rate and Pedometer watch require the use of a chest strap to get heart rate readings? And is the battery chargeable or a replaceable battery?

Medical Supply Pros

Hi Bob! Thanks for asking! No, the Medline MDSP3044 does not require a chest strap and uses a replaceable battery.

Heart Rate: It uses finger-touch sensors. To get a reading, you place your fingers on the silver metal sensors on the watch face while wearing it.

Battery: It is not rechargeable. It uses a standard CR2450 button cell battery that must be replaced when it runs low (usually once a year).

Thanks,
The Medical Supply Pros Team.

David

How do you replace the battery

Medical Supply Pros

Hi David! Thanks for asking! Replacing the battery in the Medline Heart Rate and Pedometer Watch (MDSP3044) typically requires a small Lithium Coin Cell Battery (often a CR2450).

Here are the concise steps:

Open the Back: Carefully remove the small screws or use a thin, blunt tool to pry off the metal back cover.

Remove Old Battery: Gently remove the old battery from its clip or holder using a non-metallic tool (like a plastic pick). Note which side faces up (+).

Insert New Battery: Place the new coin cell battery (confirm type first!) into the holder with the correct polarity (+ side up).

Close Cover: Securely fasten the back cover to maintain the seal.

Action: Before purchasing, check the label on the original battery once the watch is open to confirm the exact model number (e.g., CR2450).

Thanks,
The Medical Supply Pros Team.

Does this heart rate monitor have a setting to alert when the heart rate goes above a specific bpm?

Medical Supply Pros

Hi Christina! Thanks for asking!

Based on the official documentation and product features for the Medline Heart Rate and Pedometer Watch (MDSP3044), this device does not appear to have a specific setting to alert the user when their heart rate goes above a custom, high BPM threshold.

The watch's primary alert functions are:

Custom Alarms: It includes two standard, custom time-of-day alarms (AL1 and AL2). These are used for setting a wake-up time or reminder, not for heart rate monitoring.

Hourly Chime: There is an optional setting for an hourly chime (SIG).

The Heart Rate Mode is a separate function where you place your fingers on the pulse sensors for a real-time reading of your heart rate. The watch is described as providing "continuous heart rate monitoring" while your fingers are on the sensors, but its standard feature list does not include a programmable high BPM warning or a heart rate zone alert.

Important Note: The manufacturer specifically states that this device is "not meant to be used for medical purposes" and advises users to consult their doctor if needed. For monitoring high heart rates due to a medical condition, a dedicated medical-grade monitor or a fitness tracker with certified health alert features is generally recommended.

Thanks,
The Medical Supply Pros Team.

Does this watch require a smart phone?

Medical Supply Pros

Hi Shannon! That's an excellent question, as it gets to the heart of what makes this particular type of fitness watch so convenient.

No, the Medline Heart Rate and Pedometer Watch (MDSP3044) does not require a smartphone to function. It is a standalone device that operates independently.

Unlike many modern smartwatches and fitness trackers that need to be paired with a smartphone app for setup, data tracking, and a full range of features, the Medline MDSP3044 has all of its functions built directly into the watch. This makes it an ideal choice for users who want a simple, straightforward device without the need for additional technology.

The watch's core functions—including heart rate monitoring (via pulse sensors on the watch face), step counting, calorie tracking, time, and alarms—are all managed directly using the buttons and display on the watch itself.

Thanks,
The Medical Supply Pros Team.
